Tracklistings

1- Damu The Fudgemunk # Same Beat (Damu Vocal version)
Producer/Emcee Damu the Fudgemunk is back with another free project for y’all, Same Beat. The project is an A/V EP. Including the dope artwork (by Joe Buck), an audio file for Same Beat below, and two MPC performance + freestyle vids after the jump. Apparently Damu still does not see himself as a rapper, but I think he’s killin’ it on this one.

2- The Grouch & Eligh (from Living Legends) # Old Souls (Featuring Blu, Produced by Flying Lotus)
From Stay G&E LP, The Grouch & Eligh released what very well could be the 1000th project from the Living Legends crew. Easily one of the hardest working groups in hip hop history. Here’s a track off the album that features the one and only Blu. And if you’re digging what you hear, support real hip hop and cop Say G&E now!

3- Asheru & Blue Black of the Unspoken Word # Theme Music
From Soon Come…LP (2001). Here’s probably one of the best underground HipHop LP of the last decade…Unfortunately, we don’t have time to listen all…But as this track, the rest of the LP is just an amazing performance of lyrics, flow and independency. Produced on 7Heads records, J Lives’ one, be sure to dig it this month if you never heard about them…Classic

4- Invincible # Locusts (Featuring Finale, Gwen Mingo & Ron Scott)
5- Invincible # Sladgehammer
From Shapeshifters LP (June 2008). Maybe you’re gonna think im crazy about Invincible works…You’re so right. She’s one of the best thing happened to Hip Hop since ages…I played already 2 tracks by Invincible in the past few shows.
For this 4th edition, I bring it back again with 2 more tracks from her LP published last year. She disserves it, as MTV just censored her last music video.
First, a track called “Locusts” produced by House Shoes, featuring Invincibles’ partner in crime Finale, and also Gwen Mingo & Ron Scott. As the financial crisis is still an argument for corporations to vired people, the subject of this song is the Houses problems that are happening in Detroit “Motor City”. Actually, Detroit is very concerning by the crisis as 2 of the biggest cars corporations are there. Plus, many houses have been burn by secret group since almost 10 years. The situation is close from NYC one in the early 70’s…Locusts is also a Documentary Video about Detroit situation you can check on Youtube…Im still asking myself why Eminem is talking about himself, and not about his citys people…

6- J Dilla # 24k Rap (Featuring Raekwon & Havoc)
From Jay Stay Paid LP (in stores June 2nd, 2009) I started the last show with an exclusive track from this most awaiting LP of the year. You can get a special Jay Stay Paid LP Sampler mixed by the Allmighty BeatJunkies…Dig It ; )
And be sure to buy the LP next week…Can’t Wait Can’t Wait !!!

7- Azat # Slowdown Sample
From SlowDown EP. Azat is a Turkish experienced producer…I don’t know what to say more about him. But you can grab this EP for free on his website. For sure, Azat is someone to watch in 2009. Big Things comin’ !!

8- Tor Cesay # The Perch (Featuring Flying Lotus, Oddisee & Phonte Coleman)
From the forthcoming LP (August 2009)
What can I say about Tor…I LOVE YOU !!!! Grafting her own pathway to musical success, homegrown UK talent, Tor Cesay is flipping the rap game on its head with her melodic flow and fiery feminine ways. And that’s no hype talk.
You may have been lucky enough to witness Tor spitting over the BBC Concert Orchestra at Urban Classic, or see her performance at Glastonbury on the BBC Introducing Stage. Perhaps you recognize her vocals from the live performance at the Olympics 2012 winner’s announcement viewed by one billion people?
Breaking from the confines of the tight-knit UK hip hop underground. Supporters include Zane Lowe (Radio 1), Mary Ann Hobbs (Radio 1), Dynamite MC (Kiss 100), Dan Greenpeace (Galaxy), Giles Peterson (Radio1) and MP Steven Hepburn.
Recording a live set at Maida Vale for Radio 1 saw Tor take a solid spot on the homepage as "The rising star". Follow up compilation 'Beatz International' is a fine introduction to the MC before her debut album drops in August 2009.
“This young lady is one of black music's definite future stars!" Radio 1 DJ, Ras Kwame.
"An absolutely masterful MC from the UK, absolutely ruthless...I love this girl” Radio 1, Mary Anne Hobbs.
You know what to expect now...

10- The Cool Kids # Jump Rope (Featuring Tennille)
From Gone Fishing Mixtape (May 2009)
The Cool Kids released a new mixtape alongside DTP’s Don Cannon. Gone Fishing is a solid release from The Cool Kids. They continue to improve, which is weird to say because they came out so strong, and become a continuously entertaining duo that will hopefully be around for years to come. “Champions” is the best track on the mixtape, with “Jump Rope” ft Tennille being a great collab and along with “The Art of Noise” and “Tune Up” being some of the more mellow and slower paced tracks that The Cool Kids have put out.
You can download the whole mixtape zipped on Tha Kids Myspace ; )
Enjoy!

11- Erykah Badu # The Healer
From New Amerykah : Part One (4th World War) 2008.
This is not new. But this is good…and she’s startin a new world tour…Let’s pray for a Bangkok !! And Put your Speakers on ya windows !!!!

12- Santigold # Your voice
B-Side (May 2009)
It’s summer and we love it. Here’s Santigold and we love her…

Now it’s your time to dig for it
Believe in Santigold !!

13- Kid Cudi # Day n Night (Chiddy Bang Re-Work)
I’ve been listening to dat Kudis’ since more than a year now, and as I’m still sending it to some people, this re-work by Chiddy Bang just sort out…This is not The Cool Kids, but they have already what we’re looking for: humorous, topical rhymes or just some great electronic reworking. After mashed da MGMTs Kids and record a track with Radiohead, here’s the last production of what we are calling now The New Illest Philly Ting
Hope you’ll love as I love it

14- Kanye West # Love Lockdown (Flying Lotus Remix)
Everyone knows the original, from 808s & Heartbreak Lp by K.West. And, I think by now, everyone knows that FlyLo (Flying Lotus) is one of my fav’ artist in the last decade.
What Flylo did with that song is absolutely amazing…You can only recognize the voice in a very dark atmosphere…
THAT is a remix…

15- Stacy Epps # Space Tight
"Space Tight" is from Ruff Drafts Volume 2 Available on Stacy Epps MySpace page. The song is produced by Madlib and features Bembe Segue & AinJoy. I told you this edition didn’t need introduction !!! Mad & Tight Shit !!!!

16- Phantogram # Mouthful of Diamonds
Sorry for people who expected more Indie & Experimental rock in this edition…
Phantogram is the collaboration of artists Josh Carter and Sarah Barthel and self describe themselves as “a culmination of unique urban influenced rhythms, and psychedelic melodies, with combined technology and organic textures.” Besides loving white people who refer to hip-hop as “urban influenced rhythm,” we have to give them a nod for recently being signed to BBE and for citing influences that range from the late great J Dilla to My Bloody Valentine. Which is a pretty good summation for the track “Mouthful Of Diamonds”.

17- Yma Sumac # Bo Mambo (1958)
Yma Sumac was a noted Peruvian soprano. In the 1950’s, she was one of the most famous proponents of exotica music and became an international success, based on the merits of her extreme vocal range, which was said to be “well over four octaves” and was sometimes claimed to span even five octaves at her peak. If you recognize this song, it’s normal. Apart to be a worldwide success, Black eyed peas used it for their Hands Up last single…Here’s the truth
Rest in Peace

18- Martha & The Vandellas # (Love is like a) Heatwave (1963)
Martha and the Vandellas (known from 1967 to 1972 as Martha Reeves and the Vandellas) were among the most successful groups of the Motown roster during the period 1963-1967. In contrast to other Motown groups such as The Supremes and The Marvelettes, Martha and the Vandellas were known for a harder, R&B sound, typified by "(Love Is Like a) Heat Wave," "Nowhere to Run," "Jimmy Mack" and, their signature song, "Dancing in the Street."

19- The Vibrettes # The Humpty Dump (1976)

20- Mongo Santamaria # Cloud Nine (Live at Montreux 1971)
Ramón "Mongo" Santamaría (April 7, 1917 in Havana, Cuba – February 1, 2003) was an Afro-Cuban Latin jazz percussionist. He is most famous for being the composer of the jazz standard "Afro Blue," recorded by John Coltrane among others. In 1950 he moved to New York where he played with Perez Prado, Tito Puente, Cal Tjader, Fania All Stars, etc. He was an integral figure in the fusion of Afro-Cuban rhythms with R&B and soul, paving the way for the boogaloo era of the late 1960s. His 1963 hit rendition of Herbie Hancock's "Watermelon Man" was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 1998.
